After 2 years in Japan, Adarah has returned to the United States. She is now residing
in Northern New Jersey. Always on the lookout for creative expression, Adarah found her way to Serena Studios where she began her middle eastern dance studies. She has been dancing for 10 years and has had the privilege of working under some of New York's finest teachers, including her favorites Serena, Shoshana and Samara. During her time in Tokyo, not only she did have the opportunity to study with visiting instructors, but she added a new range of diversity from working and teaching with some of Japan's finest dancers. In 2001, Adarah was included amongst a group of talented artists from Japan and Australia to teach an intensive workshop with the students from FUN University in Hakodate, Japan. With 5 days to teach their students, the event brought together computer imagery, film, ornament, installation and dance into one 3 day multi-media event presented to the city of Hakodate. It was a perfect opportunity to educate and showcase Middle Eastern Dance as a truly artistic form of expression and beauty. While in Japan, Adarah had the opportunity for frequent travel throughout Asia. It was with great pleasure she was able to view dance from each region and it impressed upon her how integral dance is to every culture. From the expressive myth and symbolism of Balinese dance to the graceful and meticulous art of Japanese dance and to the energtic rhythms of Okinawan dance; the response from audiences the world over remains joyful and entranced. Adarah performed in the Tokyo area and includes some NYC venues such as The Blue Angel, Lincoln Center of Performing Arts, Wetlands, and The Players Club. She has performed as a soloist and as part of various group numbers. |
Adarah graduated from Pratt Institute with a B.F.A. in Photography. She has incorporated
photography into her dance life, having photographed many dancers of New
York City and Japan. She has just returned to the United States and is now photographing
full time. For more information about her photographic work,
go to: PhotoMuse.com She is also working on a photographic book project about the cats of Egypt. |
Adarah's style is rooted in the Egyptian influence. While Egyptian remains her favorite,
she is quite open to learning and infusing other forms into her dance.
She is most known for her steady smile and it has often been remarked upon that
she dances with honesty and generosity as well as with a "sensual innocence".
She is most happy when she can work closely with her audience and tries to bring
the love of the dance to each and every person around her. It is this passion for pleasing her audience that led her to a wonderful and loving troupe, The Caring Caravan. Before heading to Japan, she spent 3 years with the Caravan, a troupe of 6 talented dancers volunteering their time to perform in nursing homes and shelters in the New York area. In 1997 the Caring Caravan won a Mayor's Award for their service to the community. |
